William DeJong, Ph.D. – Research Fellow

William DeJong, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Boston University School of Public Health. From 1995-2004, Bill served as Director of the U.S. Department of Education’s Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention (HEC), which is based at Education Development Center, Inc., in Newton, MA. He presently serves as a Senior Advisor to the Center. In addition, he was the Principal Investigator for the Social Norms Marketing Research Project, a five-year randomized trial to investigate the effectiveness of social norms campaigns in reducing college student drinking. Bill is the author of nearly 400 publications in the diverse fields of social psychology, criminal justice, public health communications, and alcohol and other drug prevention. Bill is a graduate of Dartmouth College and received his doctorate in psychology from Stanford University in 1977.
