Darren Lubbers Ph.D. – Research Fellow
Dr. Darren Lubbers received his Ph.D. degree in Educational Psychology from Wayne State University in 2005, his Masters degree from Wayne State University in 1996, and his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1986. His doctoral dissertation incorporated structural equation modeling to examine the cognitive mediator variables of self-efficacy, peer expectancies, and mental health issues in relation to adolescent binge drinking. Dr. Lubbers current research interests include exploring the impact of Social Norms with structural equation modeling statistics. Dr. Lubbers currently works as a Federal Drug Free Communities evaluator and consultant with several substance use prevention coalitions. He also works as a consultant and trainer for several Michigan Community Mental Health centers that are integrating substance use and mental health care for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. His work with Community Mental Health organizations additionally involves the fidelity and assessment of evidence based practices. Dr. Lubbers is also an adjunct professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
